Eurostar Affected By 'Massive' Arson Attack On French Railways Hours Before Olympics

Eurostar trains to and from Paris have been severely delayed or cancelled after a “massive” arson attack, causing major travel disruption hours before the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics.

The highspeed line said its service between Paris and Lille had been affected, increasing journey times to at least 90 minutes following “co-ordinated acts of malice in France”.

State-owned rail operator SNCF was also heavily affected, explaining that “malicious acts” were seeking to paralyse its high-speed system by setting fires at installations along the line connecting Paris and surrounding travel hubs.
