I just realised I have been spelling Bob’s name backwards for years. So embarrassing.

My friends and I literally used to use Halo to play D&D (we just trusted each other on die rolls). When Reach came out it even had a grid we could use if we wanted to. Whoever was DMing would build maps in forge, and it was epic. Wouldn't go back to it, but definitely some fond memories there.

Matt Colville was on Ghostfire Podcasts over the last week and they had a pretty realistic and even handed in my opinion take on Sigil. Colville observes the business model is Fortnite, for good or ill.

Bob mentions that My Little Pony has a roleplaying game. My Little Pony, G.I. Joe, Transformers, and Power Rangers all have *compatible* roleplaying games with each other under the Essence20 system by Renegade Studios.

"We're throwing in everything!"

Me: "Sounds like GURPS."

"...One of the lead designers even plays GURPS."

Me: "Not surprised."

I understand that there are a lot of people who enjoy new spells, feats and character options, but I personally am more attracted to keeping the game simple and, if anything, adding small subsystems such as travel, social encounters or skill challenges.

Using Optimus Prime has a lot of implications because the TTRPG rights to Transformers / GI Joe / My Little Pony / Power Rangers (quite fun games, but more than a little janky) are currently licensed out to Renegade Game Studios, the same people who hold the Rights to World of Darkness. Recently, Renegade has been having some issues with other VTT platforms (like Roll 20). The initial take is Hasbro is doing this to give a leg up for one of their IP holders, which is not an entirely uncommon thing for them to do.

I watched this video because I love and want to support Bob, not because I plan on giving WotC money ever again. Which I don't.
Love you, Bob!

Don't tell Hasbro but ever since I started running D&D, I used to mix in rules and characters from other systems. I still do, but I used to, too.

Love all your amazing content. The minute I think I have most dnd books I see a slew of new ones that you show off. Can't wait for your additional perspectives on the new content coming out!

When i watched the direct video, all i could think was "How many of the staff featured or that made the product they are pitching have been fired?" I wish they could stop doing horrendous things that tarnish any excitement i could have had.

also "The keep on the Borderlands" is really an adaptation or riff at least of the short novel, "The House on the Borderland (1908)" By William Hope Hodgson, an Author who also wrote the "Carnacki the Ghost finder stories" and who died in world war 1.
In House on the Borderland, there are described "Pigmen" and there is some speculation that this is why Orcs were so long associated with pigs, as the novel was written before Tolkein, but Gygax was so Tolkein inspired, he labeled the Pigmen as Orcs for simplicity sake, thus creating the link between pigs and Orcs.

Solid effort to drag a green screen out to the woods to make it look like youre inside a regular office.

Great prank

I remember back in the days of 3.x and D20 Modern et al, wondering why they didn't make a setting for Transformers and G.I. Joe, both properties owned by Hasbro that could have REALLY helped to promote the D20 Modern line.

What’s that line from The Founder (story of Ray Croc’s takeover of McDonald’s)? … “you’re not in the business of making burgers, you’re in the business of real estate.” And so grew market dominance.

Your channel was an instant like. The calm tone and laid back vibe drew me in. And you've managed to keep your integrity and cool even though the channel has exploded. That's rare! Keep on doing what you do!

Great video, I'm pretty excited as well since I'm just coming back to DnD since 4E and learning how to DM with people who have never played. I enjoy the optimism you're taking with the releases. At times it's hard to not be discouraged by the online voices, or as James Stephanie Sterling puts it, hobby hijackers. I feel like people forget that this is a roleplaying game. They provide you with some adventures but it's more so a blueprint with components in the box that you can add or not add to your choosing. That Hasbro execs will come to your house and take you away if you decide to play your campaign with Drow and Orcs remaining evil.

Anyway, thanks for the work you do. You, Pointyhat, and Bonus Action have been such inspirations for how I want to run Dragon of Ice Spire Peak leading into homebrew stories

Bob, I started watching your channel because of your amazingly helpful and fun Essentials Kit series. I, too, think it may be the best bang-for-your-buck D&D product in the 5e library. Anyways, thanks for making good content and being a cool and nice dude ❤
