Flax Fiber

I finally have fiber. I took a couple small hand fulls and flattened them out a little then ran them across a 90 degree corner that was slightly rounded then around a small nail at greater than 90 degrees until I got the fiber out. It is coarsely processed. I combed out long fibers and carded tow. In the video I talked about combing when I was carding the tow. Oooops. Carding is not the same as combing. Anyway. I have made a small amount of combed long fiber and carded short fiber tow. This is just to see how well the fiber separated from the stalks. Not for producing super fine fibers.

The flax I used here was flax used for seed and not fiber. So the fibers are short and coarse. It was my very first attempt at growing and processing flax.
