Unless you go into a very technical career such as engineering or mathematices you aren't likely to use higher mathematics. Actually even as an engineer you'd probably only use it while taking the degree and not very likely afterward (they might only computer apps on the job). However, the biggest thing students should take away from high school math classes is the training in logical & thinking skills - that's why understanding is more important than memorizing..
