Wow, i have onlt just now found this but ut really speaks to me and kind of reminds me of the recent holiday season. I have cut all contact with my family within the last two years and even though I dont regret it and dont nessecarily miss the relationships I had with them, I still feel like ive lost something, maybe the hope/illusion that one day we could work through all the hurt and become a better versiok of a family together. When I gabe up on that I could finally let go but it still feels like sorrow and grief to have this realisation that it wasnt gonna 'get well' and was important for me to cut the ties, some days more than others, however last year I had comtact with my newly found friend groups which i met in 2022 and 2023 through therapy groups, and they gifted me their precious time and attention when I was sitting in my flat all alone. I am so grateful to have them.
