Rapido’s shaking things up by charging drivers a flat ₹500 for every ₹10,000 they make, unlike Ola and Uber’s 40% commission.

Drivers are happier, driving more, and wait times are shorter.

And Rapido saves 5% on every ride by paying GST only on the subscription fee.

The company that actually came up with the subscription model is Namma Yatri:

🔵 Namma Yatri was launched in Bengaluru as an app with no commission or middle-men. What you pay goes 100% to the Driver and their family.

🔵 Namma Yatri does not work on a commission model. It simply asks the auto drivers to pay Rs. 25 per day after which they can literally do unlimited rides in a day.

🔵 Namma Yatri was launched as a part of the ONDC network. Initially, it only offered auto rides and was able to capture a share of 25% from Ola and Uber in Bengaluru. It recently started cab rides as well on a similar subscription model.
