Stop Saying 'Very'/Intensifiers Instead of Very/Use Extreme Adjectives/Vocabulary Lesson

Hello everyone,

Today we are going to talk about the word "VERY" and ways how to avoid this word. This word cannot be used with all adjectives.
There are two categories of adjectives in the English language.
The first one is weak or gradable adjectives. These words are neutral and don`t give much information. If we use them too much, our language becomes dull and simple.
Therefore, we need to use more sophisticated, creative and interesting words. Thus, we should learn and use nongradable adjectives. They are also called Extreme adjectives. They are more powerful and show advanced level of the language.
For instance, instead of Very Good, we can say- fantastic, perfect, wonderful, fabulous, awesome, splendid, etc. or instead of VERY BAD - dreadful, awful, terrible. And many other other adjectives.
We shouldn`t use Very with these adjectives, instead we can use different and more powerful intensifiers.
In this class we are going to review most frequently used intensifiers and see which of them shall be used with weak adjectives and which of them we can use only with extreme adjectives.
