Seiko Presage (Cocktail) Review - The Best Dial Design on a Budget Dress Watch!

I am impressed by the dial details coming out of the Seiko Presage Cocktail Time (SRPD37J1). Compared to my Seiko SARB035 and Grand Seiko SBGN003, which cost more, this watch has amazing detail and finishing for the price!

Looks great! I've always loved the look of the Cocktail Presage series, but have only owned the original Cocktail Time (SARB065). I wish it was a little bit smaller and had a sapphire crystal. I recently bought an SDGM001 that's arriving later this week. It serves as a nice mix between the SARB models and the Cocktail Presage models.

I’ve got the SRPC97J1 Fuyugeshiki. The dial is absolutely stunning and the watch punches way above its price point in looks. The 4R57 movement isn’t the greatest, but for what you pay, I can’t complain. One of my most favourite watches in my collection.

Thanks for the review. Looks great. I just ordered the green one from Seiko, should have it in a couple of days. I'm hoping its not too big. I do have the Seiko Prospex SPB155 in the green with the metal band, that's a 38mm. I was looking at the Seiko SPB169 green, that's 39.3mm, but I was worried that it might be too close to my Prospex, so I decided to try the SRPD37. What I did like in looking at the SRPD37 as you mentioned in your video was the leather band and the fact that its a quick release. It looks like a nice leather band.

Very nice value for money. I like how clean the dial is, lots of real estate, nice touches, perfect dimensions. Oversized crown maybe too much for some, but a winner overall.

I have the SRPD46J1 which is a beautiful piece. Punches way above its price point. Primarily a dress watch, especially in this colour combination. Strap a bit stiff but that will ease with time. Budget dress watch? Seiko SUP880.

This and the ice blue dial are my favourites. However the watch wears big despite its moderate dimensions. Wish they had a 38mm version.

Hi. I’ve a similar watch but I find setting the date a pain. It seems the date is not set by double pulling the crown but I have to keep turning the hour hand till the date I want. If I last use the watch on 1 Jun and it is now 13 Jul, I have to turn the hour hand 26 times till the date shows 13. Am I right?

I have the Gimlet version, yellow dial gold hands. Mixed feelings about it. It’s not really a dress watch, more of a bar watch I think, it looks good at night under lights. The movement is not great, I put it on a winder for a few weeks and totally lost time. For me, it was a mistake, but for someone who doesn’t have an expensive watch, this would be a good choice to take to the bar or club.
