I agree, every controller should have 6 face button and still have the 4 L and R buttons. 6 face buttons are absolutely needed for fighting games.

This is dope I may actually pick this up just bc of the Saturn controller form factor!

Would love to see some Saturn and N64 tested out if possible.

While I haven't been interested in picking up most retro handhelds since they keep flying out, I might get one of these since it's rare to see a 6-face button layout, especially themed after a Sega controller. But I wish it had a better chip to play Saturn games at better fps though.

Thanks for sampling Street Fighter III Third Strike and Street Fighter Alpha 3, MLP!! It’s looking pretty smooth.

This looks like a must have for fighting game fans.

my suggestion for rg-arc2 new feature will be:

1) use a steonger soc that can play dc/ps2/wii games smoothly

2) add analog sticks to select and start location and move these 2 buttons some where else.

3) change full size buttons and dpad just like the saturn one.

I really wish it could of emulated Saturn and Dreamcast better, honestly its a bummer for me as a huge SEGA fan, imo that controller layout is the best

I always wanted a combo handheld that could do Sega Saturn and Dreamcast full speed out of the box.

I have it too, truly a no brainer for any SEGA or arcade fan

more handhelds should use Saturn button layout. It's easier tapping 2 trigger buttons then scrambling to hit 4 on the back of the machine.

I enjoyed this review. I'm on the fence about this handheld. On one hand I love Sega (because they do what Nintendon't) and having a handheld with their superior button + d-pad layout is one of those "It's about time!" sorts of things. On the other hand; I suspect the reason it doesn't have very many Saturn games pre-installed is because it's too weak to run them. IIRC; it's quite a bit harder to emulate Saturn than it is Dreamcast, despite the Dreamcast's better graphics, just because of how technically complicated the Saturn was. And it seemed to struggle with Dreamcast in this video. That fighting game looked okay; but, the sound was all sorts of broken sounding.

But; this should be amazing at Genesis, PS1 (people forget; but, analog sticks weren't standard at launch and 99.9% of PS1 games have a digital only controller layout), and some Android games. I love that it runs Android because that means I could use it as a mini tablet to save battery on my phone. It'll be excellent for streaming music with its WiFi and those dual speakers when people aren't around. And it has a headphone jack for when people are around. $1500 "smart"phones don't have that...

I really do like this Arc D. Enough to buy? I don't know. If it were part of the RG405 family and had the T618 + a couple of low profile analog inputs (like that RetroBit Saturn controller - or even just one like the Retro Fighters Brawler Sega controller) it'd be an instant purchase. I do know that if I somehow end up with an Arc D, as it is, for a lot less than $100 then I'll adore it. Anbernic really nailed the design and good vibes with this unit.

Please test 2D Sega Saturn games. All Anbernic devices have dual thumbsticks for 3D, all but this one. This thing is clearly a love letter to not only Sega fans but also 2D gaming in general.
So please, don`t give us another Sega Rally, Virtua Fighter and Die Hard Arcade Video. Make it Astal, Keyo YuGekiTai and Rockman X4 please...
*For those who prefer 3D retrogames, Anbernic sells the RG405M for that.

I'm also biased towards 6 buttons for sega games. Trying to play 6 button sega games with the same old ps2 style layout sucks. Great review.

I'm anxiously awaiting my system to arrive. Very excited!

This honestly feels like an ideal handheld to play Sega systems and arcade games. For the low price point, I might get it just for that. Nice video! Thanks for the content.
