My friend got a 5600x for $120, a B550 for $79, and while he went 3200 instead of 4000 he got it for $45 after rebate so I'd say AM4 is still a good bit cheaper than AM5.

Congrats Blade, you have a strong build for 3-4 year 👌
I have the ~same with msi B550 tomahawk mag, and ryzen 5 3600 xt (processor, motherboard, and rams since 2020, in the beginning with msi rx 5600xt 6gb oc)

Am4 isn’t a dead platform. Amd has shown is this by coming out with new cpus for it. I would stick to am4 if you dont have the money for am5

Nice way to sneak in a sponsor. Got to give him credit

Valid point, but if he plans on staying on AM4 for at least a couple years then go for it.

I like how you said don’t buy those but didn’t actually tell the guy what to buy in its place and instead talked about a sponsor. I mean most people know your suggestion would be a 7600 for ddr5 but idk if everyone knows that.

At this point I would recommend getting on the newer platform, but if not get the 5800x3D

Zach please don’t go on about this man’s build. It’s perfect for 1440p gaming

Honestly I think everyone should map out a few builds that revolve around the same cpu and mobo. Go for the good stuff on those two depending on your budget. Then wishlist some midrange to high range ram/fans/aio and especially ssd. Check everyday for sales and who knows, you can end up with an insane build just by putting some work in. Whatever you save can be extra for your gpu as well.

DDR4 is a great choice, unless you already are thinking on an upgrade or a potential upgrade path as a priority.

Aim for DDR4 if you are on a budget or you just want a PC period. Don't go higher than 3200 in your RAM

In my country that build would be like $2000 💀 and we don't make much money. People here get $700 builds with like gtx 1650s and i5 12400Fs.
A DDR5 and AM5/Intel 13th gen builds are even more expensive.

The build that guy wanted is like a top tier build that someone for example had both their parents earning $600-700 a month could buy in 3-4 years of saving every dollar. It's quite unfortunate and I wish that my, and other people with same situations get prices lowered and salaries increased.

Recent build is AMD 7600x, 6750xt, 32 GB Ram with a B650 tomahawk Mobo, 2tb m.2. Its been beyond great so far, future proof. 1440p at average high settings on AAA titles giving 80 fps if you overclock with afterburner. Good entry to mid-tier if thats your goal.
