The age of robots seems to be just around the corner where everyone owns a personal robot just like a PC or a smartphone. The rapidly growing robot industry is expected to reach a whopping U$ 188 by 2020, making it one of the most promising industries amidst the rising tide of the 4th Industrial Revolution. The swelling interest in robots was clearly demonstrated at CES 2019, the world's largest IT and consumer electronics trade show, with many robot makers around the world flexing their muscles in robotics technology. Today, robots are bedazzling the global audience with their outstanding capabilities supercharged with cutting-edge technologies such as AI, IoT, 5G and big data which nearly match or even surpass those of humans.
In the first episode of Meet the Future, we shed light on how far we have come in terms of robotic technology and how robots are expected to change our lives and shape our future. Personal Computer나 스마트폰이 익숙하듯 이제 1인 1로봇 시대가 눈앞에 성큼 다가왔다. 급속히 발전하고 있는 로봇 산업은 2020년이면 1880억 달러 규모로 성장할 가능성을 내비쳤고 4차 산업혁명 시대 가장 주목받는 분야로 떠올랐다. 미국 라스베이거스에서 열린 세계 최대 IT 전자박람회인 ‘CES 2019’ 역시 로봇 각축장이었다고 해도 과언이 아닐 정도로 전 세계 놀라운 로봇 기술들의 향연으로 주목받았다. 로봇은 AI와 IoT, 5G, 빅데이터 등 4차 산업 혁명의 최첨단 기술과 융합해 인간과 비슷하거나 인간을 뛰어넘는 능력을 보여주고 있다.
