[Arirang Special] Meet the Future: Episode 2

The life with robots is not a distant future. Around the world, robots are increasingly entering every aspects of our lives, be it personal care robots in living space or industrial robots at a factory. These robots have become an indispensible part of our lives as they are supporting or even replacing human labor especially in the industrial scene. Across various industries, people have shunned the so-called 3-D jobs or dirty, dangerous, difficult tasks. This is where robots come in handy as they are best equipped to handle these 3-D jobs plus dull tasks, thanks to their innate capabilities, relieving human from the undesired jobs. The question is are robots threatening or creating jobs for humans?

In the first episode of Meet the Future, we have seen friendly robots that make our lives better and easier. In this episode, we highlight the most advanced and sophisticated robotic technologies spreaheaded by global robot leaders in Korea, the US, Japan, China and Hong Kong. Meet the amazing new technologies including the robot arms, motion control robots, wearable robots, a smart factory, biohybrid robots as well as medical robots such as surgical or rehabilitation robots that help save human lives.

인간과 로봇의 공존이 현실화되고 있다. 삶의 영역에서 인간과 함께하는 서비스 로봇이 있는 반면, 산업 전반에서 사용되는 로봇들은 단순한 작업부터 세심함이 필요한 영역까지 아우르며 인간의 노동력을 보충, 혹은 대체하고 있다.
근로자들이 일하기를 꺼려하는 Dirty, Dangerous, Difficult를 줄여 3D 직종에서 이제는 Dull까지 더해져 인간의 힘든 일자리를 로봇이 대신하는 것이다. 그렇다면 과연 인간은 로봇과 경쟁하게 될 것인가, 적응하며 함께 공존할 것인가?

part.1에서 인간 삶 속에 스며드는 친근한 로봇을 만났다면, part.2에서는 한국, 미국, 중국, 일본, 홍콩 등 로봇기술 선진국을 찾아가 인간을 대신 할 만큼 더욱 정교해진 기술들을 만나본다. 로봇팔이나 모션 컨트롤 로봇, 웨어러블 로봇, 그리고 자동화산업 시스템의 정점인 스마트팩토리를 찾아가 그 기술들을 살펴본다. 그리고 수술로봇, 재활로봇 등 의료계로 뻗어나가 있는 로봇들의 면면과 미래 신소재 개발 분야인 바이오하이브리드로봇까지 다양하게 소개한다.
