Doug’s point at the end really hits it on the head for me. I don’t necessarily want something like an EQS where the whole vehicle is so focused on showing us the future that it misses out on some of the more mundane necessities for a car. I just want a normal Lexus LS, that happens to be electric.

That door handle represents everything wrong with modern car design: Making simple things complicated for no good reason at all.

Door handles. Turning a one step process into two. Thank you Cadillac

I just wanted to point out (for those unaware) is that the thinking/reason for an electronic button for the glove box is that when you put your car in "Valet Mode" for valet parking, it prevents valets from rifling through your glove box. I have a 2016 Cadillac ELR (which also does not have a manual button for the globe box). When you put the car in "Valet Mode", it also locks out certain functions of the infotainment as well as the glove box. It also keeps you from opening the trunk.

Loving the vent knobs and inside door latches. Great callback to the older caddies of the 80’s.

I spoke with a sales rep for the Lyriq at a car show I was at recently. They could tell me all about how the name was "inspired by the arts" but nothing about powertrain, weight, range etc. It was weird.

😂 that charge port rattling open is comical. Did they have a deadline and were just like “screw it, it can’t be fixed just leave it”

The door handle is not acceptable. It has a relatively complicated step to press the button, then hold the corner and pull it. A normal door handle just grabs it and pulls it.

It seems Cadillac obviously made the Lyric with Doug Demuro in mind, with its unique and peculiar features which are quirks that delights Doug to no end. There is a high performance Lyric coming, cant wait for Doug to review that one.

A heritage Easter egg. The disguised button popper to open the access door for the plug-in links back to the fuel filler hidden behind the left tail light in 40s & 50s Cadillacs. A little round reflector was actually the button you pushed and the whole tail light would spring up, exposing the gas cap. Weird but really cool and one of the things that made caddys so special.

The way, the charger door trembles is amazing.😖

Why do we need to use a touch screen to open the glovebox? What was such a big issue with a handle? Why do car manufacturers insist on making every single thing go through a touch screen that is bound to fail rather than sticking with things that didn't need changing? What if you get into an incident and the car cannot function and need to get into the glovebox?

The fact that this thing has Google Maps instead of generic maps software is awesome, most people don't update their regular GPS cause its sometimes a hassle, here just get hook up to wifi or have data service and just update Maps

My favorite part about the door handle is its just a button but they decided to make it a gigantic handle looking trim piece.

Living in a heavy snow-belt city in Ohio, I can confidently say that the electric door "popper" would not last ONE heavy winter here before it's driver is stranded in the cold.

Very appropriate that a car called the Lyriq would have a whopping 19 speaker sound system. And I like how Fiero-esque headrest speakers are making a comeback in some new cars.

I’ll never understand how pushing a button and pulling the door is better than pulling the handle. And good luck with that in the winter

Don’t forget about the noise cancellation technology which is insane. Thanks for reviewing. This was very helpful
