Excited to listen to this. I've never been religious, but always like listening to how people slowly changed their mind about what they believe. Thanks for this, both of you.

The difference between a cult and a religion is the number of followers.

Nice, I see the Cults to Consciousness podcast is connecting people together!

48:20 Is it an intentional joke that as you say "I have no intent to become a cult leader" the prompt to subscribe pops up? It feels like that was probably on purpose and definitely got a smile out of me.

21:25 yes! The freedom to think freely is one of THE best things about leaving religion. Amazing video, thanks Aladdin ❤

For a pastor to apply critical thinking in his whole life and persona shows that he is an intelligent man. To be able to break free from that position of faith takes a lot of strength in character. He’s clearly a very charming intelligent guy. I hope more religious leaders are able to see this and follow suit. They’ll be doing the world a favour.

Great interview Aladdin. More of this please.

Also, Muhammad was the cultiest of cult leaders

When I was a Christian, you were in the “them” group. I love that now that we’ve deconstructed you all are in the “us” group. There’s so much more space for us to just except each other as the individuals we are outside of religion.

As a ex-Pentecostal, myself, @3:25, you did die when you were born again. 🙂

I'm ex pentecostal as well. I grew up inside what was basically a cult. I remember trying my best to create a moral frame that i intuitively knew should exist and the pain of having the "good god" in the way of being good. I can relate to what Mr. Gibson called "being set free". That's how it felt after the dark night of the soul passed.

So excited to see Timmy here!💖🥰
And Aladdin, I can confirm that having a parent who was sometimes the best parent ever and then horribly abusive at other times (and never knowing which it would be), all it did was give me a disorganized attachment style - no good to be had from that, unfortunately 🙈😅

ohI have a thousand comments. But I spare you. Just my most sincere thanks to both of you for your honesty and courage. YES, read! YES, seek the opinions of those outside your belief. In my experience it is the people who truly seek Truth who move beyond "religion". That's why I came out of christianity, because I was willing to talk to all kinds of people with all kinds of diverse ideologies. People who know me, who are still christians, say that was my mistake, and that's why I am no longer a believer. I just have to laugh. Life is so much better now. I so admire you, Aladdin, for hosting this show and this channel. I'm gonna subscribe!

Great video. Very interesting to see how similar the path of an ex Muslim and ex Christian are. I related to so much of what he said, thanks again for another video.

Not sure if I’m misunderstanding AA but just wanted to say that all non-human animals are conscious too. The statement at 15:47 “we are smart chimps who gained consciousness” is not true, chimps are conscious too, we just evolved.

This was such an interesting video.
Very interesting to see how two people who've arrived at a position that overlaps so much from two different backgrounds are either different or the same in their thinking!
