Alex Hawke ‘welcomes’ plans to develop new Hindu cultural centre

Immigration Minister Alex Hawke says the Morrison government has funded many projects for multicultural communities and “welcomes” plans to develop a new Hindu cultural centre.

Mr Hawke said Greeks have “taken over Melbourne” over many years and the Morrison government helped introduce the first Dean of Hellenic Studies into the University of Melbourne.

“I can see, with India being our number one source country for migrants for the last two decades .. and many decades to come, we’re going to have similar processes happen in Australia, supporting Hindu culture,” Mr Hawke said.

Is there an Australian Culture Centre in India? I'm thinking probably not. If I were to emigrate and make my home in India, I'm sure I would be expected to adopt their culture, which is a reasonable request. Why don't we do the same? Multiculturalism is a mosh pit that ends up dividing people. It's Babylon all over again. If people dislike their country of birth so much that they decide to emigrate, then why drag their culture and their "gods" with them?
