I think this is one of the all-time great lead solos in rock guitar. It starts heavy and raw, grinding. Then it builds, but not too fast. It flies to the high registers, and spends a while there, melting your face. But the drops back reflectively. My one wish was that it took one last blazing resurgence like in Echos (Pink Floyd, Meddle) and set the world on fire with slide notes above the last fret.

I bought Dark Side CD over a year ago to play in my car, and I think I love it more now than I did way back. It made me happy and also a little sad, because almost all my family is dead now, and the music reminded me of a time when everyone was still alive and getting high to these great Gilmour sounds. This solo is so feeling. You play so You are simply ever stop I've play in bars 35 years and i made a two years tour, tribute to Pink Floyd. I was playing all David Guilmor's solos and with my experience i say that you young lady compare with the others, you have that little something special in your way of playing. You have it.
