Here's my picks for the best horror films of 2022! I did include Prey in this list, but YouTube shorts have to be under 60 seconds. So since it's a bit o a genre bender, I trimmed it.

I’m not the biggest horror fan out there but even I can see this year was great for horror movies. My favorite has to be Black Phone, it was just the one I enjoyed most personally followed by Nope, Barbarian, Smile, and Scream 5.

Black Phone is up there with Batman for my favourite movies of the year. I thought they absolutely nailed the plot where it didn’t feel boring despite the vast majority of the run time taking place in the basement. And it didn’t have a stupid ending I really loved it.

Haven’t seen any of these but will watch out for. I did see Terrifier lkd & heard nothing but good things about pt 2, I did watch pt 2 lol and loved! Thanks for sharing! Thanks for sharing some newer interesting must see’s. 😱

This year has surprisingly been an awesome year for Horror. Almost every single film delivered on its premise and/or turned out better than expected. My top 5 favorites this year are as follows.
5. Terrifier 2 - A shocking surprise that managed to be bigger and better in all aspects of filmmaking. The story, The characters, And the even the gore. This took a huge jump from the straightforward 80 minute predecessor.
4. The Black Phone- Ethan Hawke delivers an unbelievable performance as one of the most frightening villains so far this year. Keeps you on the edge of your seat for the whole time while never making you feel bored in a secluded space.
3. Pearl- Ti west will surely go down as one hell of a director. Making not one, but two awesome back to back features with a third on the way. Mia Goth is Oscar worthy as all 3 different character portrayals. And this one manages to be as dazzling as the wizard of oz (Which Sean already stated).
2. X- Absolutely loved what this film Brough onto the table. A dirty gritty 70's slasher with a fun plot and awesome characters. Stated almost everything I said on Pearl, only I find this one even more entertaining than the prequel.
1. Scream 5 - Coming from a hardcore Scream fan, this movie delivered on almost every single note. This is probably my most watched film of the year, because I think the directors of ready or not did a fantastic job creating a requel type idea, this makes me pumped even more for Scream 6 at NYC!!!

The black phone was definitely in my top 5 movies of the year

Terrifier 2 would be my favorite. That’s because it’s 100% made for the people that would love it. We live in an era where the majority of movies are made to be very accessible for everyone. Terrifier 2 is the exact opposite of that. It’s unashamedly crazy, gross, and weird. But really, 2022 has been a fantastic year for horror.

The Black phone is an amazing film for personally it's 4th best movie of the year after Top gun maverick, The Batman and All quiet on the western front. So well made i was glued to the screen.
