How common is it in Australian high schools to be offered learning Latin (or other languages)? How many pupils do learn a second language or even Latin? Is there some statistics?
Here in Germany we have a "3-way" educational system after elemetary school from the ages 10-15 up to 10-19. If you were able to go the "best of the 3 types of schools", the Gymnasium, you start with English in 5th grade and you're usually offered to learn French, Spanish or Latin as 3rd language when starting 7th grade. In 9th grade you can start learning a 4th language or go into a more scientific way. Both other types of school, Hauptschule and Realschule, both teach English and in Realschule you can chose to also learn French later on.

Ita, Latin est imortalis, hic est, magistra docet et discipuli discit. Placeo, ego sum cognita latine. Facilis est, multis similem linguam Italicam, et Hispanicam, etiam lingua Galliam et Lucitaniam. Multa pulchra verba.
