ive seen so many meat, sausages, milk, eggs and animal products overall getting thrown anway when dumpster divving..and this was just a few shops i grassed off regularly..it was baffling..

You always condemn the meat industry and act like big vegetable agriculture is so pure and environmentally friendly. Also, there are tons of farmed vegetables that go into the trash every day.

I feel like this must be a regional country argument rather then a global argument…

there is by far a larger production of plant based foods of which a good majority never goes to market and the ones at market are trashed and discarded in volume it’s more food- more veggies are wasted on avgerage it takes up a lot of land it’s a lot of human work labor and it’s utilizing fertilizers or pesticides in most cases in which case soil retention or water retention and cycling has to be carried out differently then say an at home garden…

and in terms of resources like animals their land and water and /feed/water/land and how that’s all still plants and agriculture farming which utilizes either specific plant based products or processing —> it’s also distinctly cultural cuisine and often times food relating back to religion.

Location and dietary restrictions allergies and even issues plant based foods and their manufacturing processes and shipments. People are either getting veggies frozen and shipped or they’re getting bruised fresh food that traveled thousands of miles to be sold at a store near them. And still there’s waste. If we’re looking at a cattle farm that raises beef and has a set property limit and they sell 100% directly to restaurants with say 10% losses from variables they’re still growing and selling with very limited waste. And the types of proteins nutritents and minerals which can be sourced from plant resources may grow in specific areas or climates making them purely import based with a high carbon emission level or they’re grown in actual greenhouses which may use an abundance of electricity or water or pesticides or fertilizers or human labor and illegal working conditions

(as seen in California where even if you have mushroom farms which are sold directly to restaurants you have workers living in terrible conditions not given wages or given inhumane payment/treatment and work with toxic materials and poor health care or consideration when working with spores and detritus/fertilizer. They can’t get off the property or stop working they’re harvesting mushrooms 24/7 to meet the demand because by volume you need a shit ton more mushrooms then you would need say a slice of meat)
