Since this french drain trench is not up against the foundation, how deep do you typically dig down or do that depends on the slope you're trying to get....Because I may have heard wrong that 18" to 24" is typically for a trench drain...THX

Robert- I've watched most of your videos, and I'm happy to see the integrity you put into your work. I have a rural property with poor drainage in one area. I have no power. The county drains and roadside drains are also neglected. You mentioned poor dirt in this video. I have the equipment to remove my muddy nasty soil in the wet area. What would you suggest I truck in to replace it with?

We had an unusually rainy season here in Maine, and just moved into our newly constructed home last April. After they brought in the loam and seed we had an entire week and a half of just rain. As a result the water cut a natural trench around the back and side of our yard. We want to clean up the trench and install a French drain in the trench. In the backyard we'll just put stone over the top of the burrito fabric, but in the side yard we want to actually tie it in with both sides of the lawn and be able to grow grass over the top. My question is this: since there is no sod, after we burrito the fabric over the top of the stones, would you recommend covering it with loam so we can then lay grass seed and hay? Or should we do sand first and then loam and seed? Thanks so much for any help you can give!!

In a previous video, that I can't seem to find, you mention capillary action. Do you know on average, how far away from the center of that pipe will water migrate into the French drain? Thanks

Would you use nonwoven and stone around parts of system that are moving water only, non where the pipe is solid and not perfporated?

If a property is getting water from the backyard property line would you install just along the back property or extend the French drain syemm along the sides as well? Back property line is approximately 130 ft long
