Learn how to replace rusty leaf springs, shackles, and leaf spring mounting brackets in your truck or suv. I also show how to replace leaf spring bushings and remove the rust and undercoat the frame of your vehicle. We lift the truck in the process by using Chevy/Dodge lowering shackles which fit the Ford Ranger/Mazda B-Series trucks.

I don't think some people understand how much easier it is to follow along when someone speaks clearly, and the video is edited so well, like this. Thanks. Now if only my F250 was so small.... lol

It doesn't bother me waiting for Chris's videos, because I know they're always going to have top notch quality. Some of these mechanic channels throw out worthless videos 3 times a day just to make money.

The fact that you go over safety is admirable.

Something I love about this channel is that u don’t make subs for the money or just to be famous but u actually show people exactly what to do step by step

I don't even have a car that uses leaf springs, but I learned a lot. Thanks Chris...

This video gave me the confidence to do it myself on a 2000 F-150 XLT 4x4. Feeling proud that I did it using lots of tools inherited from grandpas who have passed on. Upgrading to heavy duty leaf springs with new shackles and bushings has made for a much smoother ride! Tips for those thinking about doing it:

-don’t attempt shackle or hanger replacement without an angle grinder-you’ll likely have at least 1 bolt on each side that will need to be cut out; you might need to cut part of the old shackle too so have fresh cutting wheels

-after U bolts, I found it easier to get the front eye bolt in place 1st then use c-clamp to help line up holes for bolt thru shackle and hanger (make sure you pre-install shackle onto spring with bolt head on frame side of shackle)

-Power Torque brand 6 ton jack stands from Oreilly had plenty of height for this project

So far I saved
$100 spark plug change with proper gap
$400 coilover install
$ 700 a/c compressor install plus recharge
$120 making sure my air fuel sensor was good
$600 replacing my brakes and rotors
$400 restoring my headlights instead of getting new ones
$80 replacing my belt
Bottomline i am looking forward to the new shirts !

I may not have leaf springs on my car, but atleast knowing how to fix rusted parts is great knowledge to have when i inevitably attempt to restore the car.

Who else gets such a satisfying feeling when he torques the bolts. That click sound is so good.

The "little big" things you do for your videos always impress. Fixing the light for a shot with cardboard and an extra light under the bed, taking the time to do "extra" work by doing both sides and demonstrating replacing bushings, etc. It's in all your videos and a reason I'm subscribed! Keep up the awesome content!
