So simple explanation. straight a lay man can easily understand and setup wifi repeater router in house. Keep it up. If the fiber cable connected is in a different floor or far away from main fiber cable connected router, RJ 45 ethernet cable has to be connected from main router to the repeater now setting up. While RJ45 cable is used one has to follow the allowed length keeping in view of signal drop instead of invariably increasing length. Repeater router will act as wifi device at new place once set-up.

What if i have a dual band router as my primary router and i use another single band router for range should i then also disable my 5g ?

I am using DLink 628 and my interface is completely different from this, with no option to use "Repeater" through the menu (I guess this is the newer addition to the firmware and newer routers). Wish I could find a Tutorial for my router to change it into a repeater.

Don't we need a rj45 cable goin between the lan port of main router and wan/lan port of the new extender router ?
Is this cable required or not ?
