1) They cancel early access, to not show game, and give reviews only for handy media. To not allow some honest youtubers buy it and show to people.
2) they cancel season pass, to add it after week after release.
Ubisoft is trying so hard.

Early access was never "early", every "normal" customer gets the game three days after release.

Modern Tony Hawk games by Vicarious Visions - a similar example. Had great time playing the remake of THPS 2 they made. It was so good I even made a 'Skateboarding in gaming Time Capsule' video. They were planning on creating the same remake for THPS 3 and 4... but were bought by Activion / Blizzard and the team behind the remake was dispatched to Diablo.

They probably thought that Assassin's Creed in the attractive setting of feudal Japan (with ninjas!) is guaranteed to be a smash success. It would have been, if they did not go into a DEI frenzy when developing it.
