Much to everyone’s dismay Judy Garland’s fifth husband was shady nightclub manager Mickey Deans. They met when she ran out of pep pills and Mickey was the man who helped her out. They saw each other casually for two years but when Judy announced she was heading to London he impulsively suggested they get married. After signing the register in Chelsea in March 1969, they threw a huge party… that almost no-one attended.

Mickey had all sorts of grand plans to restore Judy’s fortunes, none of which came to anything. She managed a few final performances in London and a short tour of Scandinavia, but by now she was seriously ill and barely eating.

After only three months Deans found his new wife dead in the bathroom of their rented London house, after accidentally taking too many of her sleeping pills. Deans accompanied her body to New York City where 20,000 people paid their respects. On the day of her funeral, Deans stopped off to discuss a book deal about their life together.

Dearest Judy, I don't care how much crap they sling at you about pills and partners, I still love you! Always. Thank you for putting smiles on my heart with your beautiful voice!

Makes me so sad to hear her singing Somewhere Over The Rainbow. She gave me so much happiness and everyone.

So he was trying to make money off her before she was even in the ground?

From her mother to the last husband, she was exploited in every way, still fed drugs, and to a book deal at a funeral. She was cursed. Lol, and I don't believe in curses.

So Mickey was the drug dealer! I found it amazing that he flew to London when she was there. It amazes me that he would marry her in the state she was in. He had his motives. Noticed, at their wedding; him and this other guy was all crowd around the whole time ?!?! There’s rumors stated Mickey was gay the same as Mark Herron. We all can tell, Judy didn’t have great luck in choosing men.

Piece of rubbish. How many people sucked the love out of her. I feel so bad for her children.

At some point a person has to be held accountable for their own actions nobody's upbringing is perfect and Judy Garland's was standard in historical context it only comes off strange in today's time but keep in mind at that time Hollywood was being created nobody knew what they were doing aside from placing one foot in front of the other; even drugs nobody were aware of it's dangers it was all basically new the same as being a child film star it was as all basically new; so I don't really see how Garland's life or childhood is any worse than any generations reality other than growing up and holding yourself accountable for your own circumstances
