25 words true southerners say

The English language is very hard. We say these words but never spell them. The Southern states are Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky, and West Virginia.

As a southerner myself, I must say that "coke" is definitely NOT representative of all sodas. At least not in the Carolinas. When we say "Coke", we mean "I hate Pepsi, so that BETTER be COKE."

I've said all of these and I didn't know they were because I was southern. No wonder I get weird looks when I use these words in front of my non southern friends

It’s the descriptions that are so helpful to pick up southern cadence and accent, phrasing. A video of natural dialogue between two people would be really helpful.

Love the video! Roll Tide! As a lifelong southerner, I was surprised to hear one I didn't know! It was "gumdation" ?? (I may have spelled it incorrectly.)I loved the video. Very funny and so true! One my country grandmother used that I always thought was so funny was "everywhichaways"! She used it as a single word. So cute!

You're great! And your accent is great. I like accents but southern are the only ones I love. It makes me ashamed I gave up my Texas accent when my sister made fun of me for saying, "stirrin' wheeel". So I change it over time. I miss it! At my late age I'm atryin' to git it back. Thanks. We call ground beef "hamburger meat".
