In short, discrete is a measurement you can give an exact value for. Number of coins in your pocket, the number of red cars in a car park etc whereas continuous is something you cannot measure exactly such as draw a line of length 2.6783412398000345 cm

You only add 1 if it is discrete data, this is continuous.

Height (length) is continuous. I disagree with their method then in your text book. What book was this?

Hey sorry to bother you and come back to this video 3 weeks later after my previous comments, but would you use (N+1)/2 for the median if you measured the height of something? is height continuous or discrete? Because in a revision textbook they have put "Height of Plant" with class widths of 0-5 6-10 11-15 16-20 and to find the median they did (N+1)/2

Isn't the median the (56+1)/2 th value? i.e it is the 28.5th value? Therefore it should be 20.5+((5/11) x 7.5) which gives a final answer of 23.91
