Volant Cold Air Intake for C5 Corvette. Bought this on amazon as an open box from Amazon Warehouse. Minor gain in performance nothing big.

glad the part created a good result, not everybody likes a whistling car, except perhaps the power adder fans. The stock corrugated intake tube right before the throttle body is shaped that way to tumble the air somewhat as it travels, so the fuel mixes more easily into the turbulent atmosphere as it enters the cylinder. So you might consider ditching the smooth hose in that location.

I.also read a pretty convincing internet statement where it was reported that the conflicting air streams at the"Y" juncture in that type of design actually conflict with smooth airflow, and that on his drag car, blocking off one side of the intake actually made the airflow better. Said he had the time slips to prove it. Seemed to make sense to me, although the intake in that discussion had much bigger air filters and was chromed aluminum.

I have a few reservations about non stock air intakes on street cars in general, but let me point out that, "cold air" whatever that means, was not part of the LS engine design. that's because of the sensors that can adjust the ignition event for known air density, instead of the dumb car days, where one always sought to optimize the air density, because that was the only possible variable once the car was underway. so one was always trying to get better air density, to increase efficiency, because efficiency is power.

However, gasoline burns better at higher temperatures, and since computerized engine management allows for an optimized ignition event at higher ignition temperature than before, to me it kind of negates the quality of "cold" air density. I say this because the gm engineers chose to movie the entire engine design up into a more efficient combustion temperature, verses trying for optimized air density for power. And if nothing else, everyone knows modern cars are designed for efficiency, Efficiency is power.

gm just had to pay a 680 million gas guzzler tax in 2023, so they are not screwing around. I would even go slow on changing the flow of the air intake, the thing might be tuned for an optimized velocity.

The whistle is totally normal on these type of intakes.

Just did my O2 vette also. It came with ONE sleave, that was 7 inches about. You have to cut it with a razor, I cut it at 3 inches from one end, leaving the other as a 4 inch piece. I didn't have a whistling sound. I'm wondering if there is a small hole on that black plastic part, you showed it in the beginning. Yeah I paid on Amazon $223, so you got a really good price. Great job btw for not having directions.

Nice job with the vid. A lot of guys get the vararam system, or guys will remove the foglight shroud to allow more air in. Love the color and it looks clean!! Welcome to the Vette community.

After having intake on for a few days all seems well, no air leaks or anything so I guess I'm happy with what I got for the price I paid. And as for bumper ment to say duraflex!
