In this video, we install a Vararam Snake Charmer VR-SC1 cold ram air intake. After doing a lot of research I found this intake that has amazing reviews from everyone on amazon, facebook forums and recommended by tuners. It has a ram air effect and is a lot better than the stock cold air intake for airflow.
Vararam claims that it adds up to 40 hp. So I show you guys how to install this cold air intake and we test it on the road to see if there is a difference.

I put it on my C6 Z06 and went from 11.9 @118mph to 11.6 @125mph no tune. Night and day difference but clean your filter often. I had it on my C5 base, 13.1 @ 105mph to 12.8 @ 112mph no tune. I don’t need dyno numbers, proof is in the pudding.

Also know as the hydrolock 4000. More than a few motors have met their end with this system. Very well documented problem.

The faster you go the more power it makes. Period. Great intake for 1/2 mile or longer racing.

I too bought a used one and had it installed at a Corvette shop. The shop owner advised driving easily for the first 200 miles to let the computer learn the new air flow characteristics. I'm an old school carburetor guy, so this stuff is all Greek to me. From my years of experience with muscle cars, you need a boost of 25-30 hp before you are really going to see/feel a difference. The ram air effect will sort of be hidden too as it comes on gradually the faster you go. The best gas mileage I ever got on highway runs was 34.9 mpg Imperial and 35.1 with the intake addition. Back then I paid $125, so even if the intake made no difference at all people might take a look and wonder what else I might have done to the car. Any way you look at it, the car runs as smooth as silk with no negatives from adding the intake. The last time I looked, they were wanting something like $630 CDN for these intakes. Ridiculous price for a piece of plastic. As mentioned in the video, look for a used one.

Bro thank you so much for posting this and opening my mind! This is a great way for some quick horsepower and torque gains with little effort!

Put your seat belt on . Seat belts save lives . No need for any more mods if you end up going through the windshield .

you can just prop the plastic shroud open and get a lot of air from in front of the grill. I added a small scoop and it keeps the IAT's low

Good luck with the your project. I installed this intake from 3 years ago. For the first time 30hp on a corvette from the intake as VR claims if they are right on a corvette you can't feel the difference of the power of the car, but when I installed the headers and the x pip and tuned the car I felt the difference.

nice I myself am getting a c6 in a couple weeks just found your channel keep up the great work. The only thing that would concern me about the intake is driving through water and it sucking it up.

(Ik this is an older vid) but even if you don’t get crazy hp gains you definitely would notice better throttle response from it being way better flowing than stock

Me and my friend had this years ago, i had to get rid of it after my friends car was caught in a down pour and scooped up water and killed his engine .

Was originally thinking to do something similar with my truck, without blocking the airflow to the rad and being in a place that will suck up water if I drive through a puddle. Not sure how the intake was besides the small from the sides in yours but that a lot of surface area now blocking the rad, though I could be completely wrong? any change in coolant/engine temps?

I'm sure the difference will be very noticeable on a cool night.

I was wondering if u had the dyno/tune results, right now have Texas speed long tube headers on my LS2 and I’m thinking of getting an intake. What r ur current numbers now?

Any induction sound? like whistle or something? And did you tune? Did you get that popping sound and backfire and more obvious power and torque?

Just an FYI, you're not getting anywhere close to a 40hp gain, 10 - 12 is a better guess. You'll get better results with a tune. 😉
