"Ich gehe heute zu einer Freundin von mir." You said that you can add the "von mir" to distinguish between a regular friend and a romantic interest. However, I did not catch if adding the "von mir" meant the person was just your friend or if that distinguished them as more special to you. Which does it clarify? Thanks!

ANSWER: Caught Jenny in a livestream. "Ich gehe heute zu (eine Freundin/ein Freund) von mir." adding "von mir" is always to identify a friend and never for a romantic interest.

Why it's being said " Ich esse am Tisch." instead of " ich esse beim Tisch." aren't both mean "at" and "bei" is used with activity like here "Essen"?
