I came across your channel and I have been binge watching these! I really enjoy seeing the towns you are visiting and learning about some places I have never heard of. I am near the Thomasville/High Point area. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for these tours; I've only lived in Fayetteville, Wilmington, and Raleigh so I've only ever passed by the smaller towns. Looking forward to the next one!

I think the old department store was Belks maybe? My great aunt lived for many years in the family home where my mother was born across the street from the jail and courthouse on the corner of main and Adams? God I forget the details. Carolyn Brinkley was her name. It may be familiar to some.

I've been to the town many times as it is not far from my home. Like so many eastern NC towns, Plymouth has unfortunately declined over the decades. But as you rightly point out in your video, the bones are still there for a resurgence. Greater emphasis needs to be placed on what makes Plymouth unique, such as the waterfront. It is truly a quaint downtown which could be a jewel and economic engine for Washington County. Just needs a little loving care followed by some marketing.
My great-grandfather fought in the 1864 Battle of Plymouth as a soldier in the 8th NC Inf Regiment in General Hoke's division. The Ausbon House in town still has multiple bullet holes in its facade from the battle. It's on the corner of Washington and Third Streets, about two blocks from downtown.
Thanks for the video. My only quibble is that the population of Plymouth is about 3, 000, not over 16, 000 as shown on the video. There's only about 11, 000 people in the entire county.

Plymouth, NC's town center is nice and has so much potential to be a beautiful, vibrant place on the banks of the Roanoke River. Town leaders need to focus on completely revitalizing the town center and restore and maintain the river walk's decking so it doesn't look awful and pressure wash the majority of the sidewalks in the town center. In answer to your question, Timothy, North Carolina's General Assembly, moved the county seat of Washington County from Lee's Mill, NC, to Plymouth NC in 1823.

Plymouth is also home to several popular and well-attended attractions, including the Roanoke River Lighthouse; Bear-Ology; Port O'Plymouth Museum; God's Creation Wildlife Museum; and, Washington County Recreation. As you mentioned, Timothy, Plymouth also hosts the North Carolina Annual Black Bear Festival on the first Saturday of June. Fyi - This awesome, popular festival takes place on the Roanoke River's banks in Plymouth's Historic District, in a large grass park on the east end of Water Street. The festival is a mix of a river/bear festival that celebrates black bears as a significant part of North Carolina's heritage and it's goal is to educate the public about black bears and how to celebrate them. The festival has over thirty activities, such as live music, bear tours, museums, and helicopter rides, and hosts up to 30, 000 attendees each year.

As a plymouth it's a sleepy little town. Not much happens here

We've had more black bears here the last several years. I wonder what places with lots of bears do to keep them out of the trash.

These Eastern NC are all dangerous to live in. Most are filled with drugs and poverty and violence. People ar afraid of these towns.
