The clear plastic dial face could be made more clearer with an automotive headlight cleaning kit. Try some buffing compound on a lint free rag. Maybe a coat of Pledge restore
would help after that.😎 Check transistors in detection circuitry, one is open!

good restoration, thanks for you, I had one the same like this in 1979 . that time was full of love among the people, neighbors, friends and relatives . I longed for those days when there weren't envy and evil, so what can I say about that beautiful time !! ?? I wish and hope it will return, but the days went by and left us very quickly . thanks a lot for you all my readers from every where in world.

I think this is a good restoration (clean up). Its better to keep the originality as much as possible. However, the electronics seemed to have been left untouched as radio doesn't play.

Este radio lo compré hace tres meses en perfecto estado . Hace quince días compre el SILVER solid estar tres bandas utiliza tres pilas 1.5 v esta reliquia puede ser de los años 60 ambos en perfecto estado

This is not a restoration its just a clean up and a bad one at that you only have to look at the muck on the circuit board to see this. A restoration would have made this look like new.

Get Arm and Hammer baking soda toothpaste and a rag and polish the dial display plastic.

There are different perceptions of restoration. This is more of cleaning up as electronics have not been restored.

Looks like it is stone cold dead. It needs full electronic restoration. Likely new resisters and caps. The dial plastic is clouded and likely could be restored, made clear once again. It would be nice to see a complete restoration.

i've got a very similar model to yours, but all the knobs and switches make crackling scratchy sound when turned, is there a fix for that?

Too bad it didn't work after all that. I have a radio about that vintage that I use every day. It's AM/FM, but no short wave. Works almost good as new. Volume control is just a little bit noisy, but not bad considering it lives in the bathroom. I listen to it while I shower and shave. It's a General Electric model 7-2880B.
