We deal with this regularly here in Phoenix. People are dying hiking WITHIN THE CITY LIMITS of PHX (population 1, 800, 000). There should be an off season for hiking. Or stay up against the coast where it is temperate in SD.

My family and I spent many weeks in the desert over the years, hot or cold. And we never over did it, always had a minimum of 5 gals of water in the car, carried at least one gallon. There is no excuse for this. Know the limits of those around you and yourself. Don't take risks. Mother nature is deadly.
