The Truth about the Druids

Once they held great power in their communities.
These were the druids, men and women shrouded in the mystery of ancient forests and deep knowledge of the natural world.
To the Celtic peoples of old, they were not just spiritual guides but also teachers, healers, and arbitrators, guiding their communities with their wisdom.
But today, the druids are rising again. In the modern age, their legacy, once on the brink of obscurity, is experiencing a renaissance.
Who were the druids and what were their powers. And why is Druidism on the rise after centuries of suppression.

OP (Symbol Sage): You should check out the documentary "The Last Druid - Documentary on Ben McBrady of the Old Gaelic Order". This fellow died in recent years, but he was one of the very last actual druids. He had a lot of very interesting things to say. Like the differences he drew between European druids and islander druids (UK et al). He claimed "The Order" was formed during one the last cataclysms. ANd that it was formed to be able to rebuild humanity in case of another cataclysm. Absolutely fascinating to hear about the order from its potentially very last member.

Definitely a good and relevant belief today. Anything that is humane, spiritual, medicinal and ecological can't be bad😊

As a Christian, I will say that what this report regarding the Druids is superb! More
than that, you obviously have a very good head on your shoulders and can easily
distinguish the truth from what is either questionable or false (one prime example
of a false report would be the Roman propaganda vilifying the Druids)! And your
scholarship is highly praiseworthy!

7:54....Just listen to the song Anoana from the band Heilung and experience what it awakens into the listener. Heilung is all about healing something that was lost in the modern times of today.

Two interesting things I can add: female druids were actually called Fae. It's kind of weird to start narrowing on on where that word & concept came from, but they had one, single type of mythological monster which was vaguely similar to what we would now call a fairy, superimposed the Norse/ Germanic elf lore on top of that while using the term "fair folk, " which, I guess, slowly diverged into them forgetting what a Fae originally was as the two words became one & the same. Then, began doing rituals for the fae at the same sacred sites where they used to worship the gods.

The second thing is that there seems to have been a druidic custom of referring to anyone who became a devotee or patron to a specific God a "sacrifice" too, so that makes the sacrifice part even murkier. Though, unlike in Germanic & Scandanavian culture, I think they have found large-scale graveyards of human remains near sacred sites which weren't buried in the usual Celtic fashion. So, my best guess is human sacrifice was present, but also overexaggerated. Unless, there is the possibility that it was only a thing among the Celtiberians, given they had interaction with the Phoenicians.

Great video. A quick note on pronunciation of some of the Irish words in this video:
Beltane: Bal-Ta-Na or Be-AL-Ta-Na
Lughnasadh: Lu-Na-Sa
Samhain: Sow-An (sow pronounced as in female pig / how)
Doire: Doy-Ra

I personally prefer the academic description of the druids, as a intellectual class who seek to broaden their horizons and understand the natural World. I think if one was transported from the past to the present day they would far much prefer spending their time and observatories and libraries then hanging out at Stonehenge during the summer solstice.

One of the few religions that I've found to be genuinely egalitarian. Shame it was wiped out and lost to time.

If Druids didnt leave written records, then from what do the modern druids base their beliefs and ways?

Do they base it on roman writings? Or were there druids throughout the centuries that were not suppressed by christianity so that oral tradition continued?

Druids exists in Brasilian mytholgy known as Paje healing with songs, dance and magic Animism.
A think a ancient connection with Celtic Hy Brasil and Demark related to Celtic Irish King Braesal a Celtic God.
Amazon is a Greek mytholgy with Scythians.
Caipora may be related with Amapa stonehenge and Inga stone. Spiritual diverse spiritualism with Sacred Oxossi Caboclo and Allan Kardec Spiritualism having Fransitek Lorenz speaking 100 languages. Zelio the Grounder of Umbanda.

Mistletoe is white. That was Holly. Very common mistake, though, as even googling mistletoe will sometimes pull up holly due to how common the mixing of the two is in culture

As soon as I saw the thumbnail of Druids in front of Stonehenge I knew how dire this was going to be.

The Celts, referred to as Keltoi, in ancient Greek texts, we're talking no earlier than 800 BC here, spread to western Europe via European land routes and North African land routes to western Europe, entering ancient Britain around 2000 BC. This was 500 years AFTER the main work on Stonehenge and 1000 years after its wooden predecessor... therefore, nothing to do with Druids. Modern "Druids" have pre-empted ownership of Stonehenge based on ignorance of the actual archaeological dating, which is relatively recent. The rest is a rehashing of oft-told druidic mythology. The "facts" of many histories, eg of Herodotus and Julius Caesar, mixed as they are with obvious fairy tales, gods, mythical creatures, miraculous happenings, have to be taken with a handful of salt and cannot remotely be counted as "the truth about Druids".

That they were shamans, nature-oriented, law-givers and magicians handing down oral traditions cannot be disputed... that is pretty much the description of a shaman anywhere, anytime. Did they have actual magic? Does a Papua New Guinea shaman wield actual magic by shaking a shrunken human head around? Unlikely!
