You know what’s crazy? I wasn’t recommended this video. I was recommended the white girl youtuber’s response to this video.

As a computer scientist, I think it's a common trope to "blame the algorithm". Sure, the algorithm is shit and biased. But it didn't write itself. Please, let's take this a step further and blame the developers of the algorithm. People have been complaining about "the algorithm" for years and years, and it really seems to only be getting more and more bigoted, rather than solving the issues. So let's stop pretending this is just a machine making mistakes. There are humans behind this machine and they are responsible for those mistakes and we need to hold them accountable.

Yea my ass is a Bright ass Bridge...been doing my part to give knowledge to all that watch me to fill the gap. I’ve been speaking up about this for YEARS & that’s why my channel is pretty much shadow banned at this point & why I only make $100 a month from YT. I remember noticing this back in 2015/2016 when Hart, Stevie, Arielle & I were all on the same campaign & at the time Hart & I’s numbers were double there’s, but Arielle was offered $8k, Stevie $10k, Hart $1500 & I was offered $2500...it’s been a problem with no justification on why. Let’s see if this platform is gonna do its part & amplify black voices more. Keep speaking friend🙌🏽🖤✊🏽

The Youtube Algorithm is definately biased. I watch Asmr alot and I noticed no black content was coming up, so I search for black Asmr and I have to do this everytime,

I sadly didn't realize it until last year, but everything Jade said is true. I was obsessed with most of the white lesbian youtubers y'all are probably thinking about until I rediscovered Jade and noticed that she ACTUALLY had not only good content, but ACTUAL CONTENT. Most of them will upload once a month(if that) and when they do, it's just their 20th video on skincare or working out. Black youtubers really have to expose themselves just to get half as much attention.

Thanks for educating me Jade. I know I can do better, and I plan to. You make SUCH excellent, creative, smart, content, and it is clear that you work SO hard on this platform. You deserve so much more recognition.

You and heart where the first BLACK lesbians I watched, which led me to other great creators but it started with you two and even though I miss heart I'm so happy your still here...most of my favorite Black creators * lgbt+ and straight * are leaving and at this point we just need something for ourselves, we need a black YouTube, Facebook all of it...entertainment for us by us money made by us for us

White lesbians who aren’t Youtubers: this is for you too. There are lessons to learn and apply to your work and social circles. It’s never over, we need to acknowledge and call out our racist tendencies and work to be anti-racist.

Coincidentally, but not surprisingly, one of the white lesbian YouTubers who responded to this video has more views on their response video than this video. So yeah that validates everything Jade is saying. Facts.

I feel like this could all be perfectly summed up by the fact that I got recommended a response video to this made by a white lesbian (that I had never watched) before I got recommended your actual video
Unbelievable

Don’t know if you watch her videos but recently Glamazontay spoke out about having 800k subscribers yet never being invited to YouTube Black. There also seems to be a divide within the group of Black Lesbian YouTubers for those that are more palatable for white gays and those like Tay who are more “ratchet”. Or even other Black Lesbian couples whose Blackness is less palatable. Don’t know if you have noticed it but as a viewer it is quite clear.

👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 Watched and listened! *small* willy here (couldn’t resist) with 50k and honestly have never reached out to anyone outside of vancouver canada to collab because the scene in general seems intimidating as fuck unless you are super popular. That said, I made notes from the video (including to scratch my plans for a making a strap out of sour patch kids video) and am excited to unlearn, relearn and support! I’ll be doing the work and reaching out but if anyone sees this comment and wants to come on my channel/socials, id love to make something together! Jade, thanks for the emotional energy that went into helping us learn (ridiculous it had to be done but I appreciate it none the less).

White mediocrity in the workplace is rampant regardless of your field.

Also! Algorithms and technology general are developed by humans and human biases and, by extension, already existing social hierarchies are often reflected in the resulting tech.

Not a lesbian. But as a black trans guy, I used to think I was just a stud lesbian and therefore became really involved in lesbian YouTube. That said, Jade you are speaking so much truth. The problem exists on trans YouTube as well. I only know about a couple black trans guys on here. And Kat Blaque is the only prominent black trans woman that I know of. Although, to be fair, trans Youtubers are slightly better about being aware of the divide and even addressing it. Still though, it's a problem for the L's, B's, G's, T's, and Q's and I hate it.

Edit: Just realized this could come off as me steering the convo away from Jade's concerns by mentioning my observations. Not trying to step on any toes here. Solidarity, Jade ✊🏾
