The Honda Acura heat soak problem that shows it's ugly head in the J Series V6 has been solved. It has nothing to do with summer fuel or winter fuel. It has to do with 3 sensors that go bad and need to be replaced. You don't need to replace the PCM and re-program it. Watch the video to see how to fix the problem.

UPDATE FOR 2023: The issues came back for me and this is what I had to do, had it beat for two years, then is came back. I will tell you what to do but you have to promise to report the results here (good or bad)! You have to change 3 sensors, 40 bucks on Rockauto.com amd the fuel pressure regulator. You have to change the engine coolant temp sensor (19MM), the air intake temp sensor (19MM) and the fan (thermo switch) (it controls the fans behind the radiator) (24MM or 15/16 deep socket) sensor that sits in the thermostat housing. The air intake sensor is on the intake manifold on the back edge towards the drivers side. Here are the Honda / Acura pary numbers. Just take those and plug them into the search bar on Rockauto.com. Fixed the problem for me, period. 37870-PK2-015. 37880-P0A-A02. and 37760-P00-004. Just make sure you don’t switch the air and coolant sensors when you install them. They look identical and will fit both locations. Please let me know if this fixes your problem. If you have any more issues email me bundysgarage at gmail dot com

I replaced my fuel pressure regulator and that resolved my problem. I am still glad that I replaced the sensors as they are over 20 years old.

Great video! One of the radiator fans on my 2001 TL doesn’t turn on at all, and the other one only turns on after I shut the car off and it’s above operating temperature

Careful before you buy all new sensors. I have this exact issue and pulled the trigger on new sensors but unfortunately, I had the same problem. There’s no change. The next thing I would check is probably fuel pressure regulator and or EGR valve. I literally am dealing with this right now sitting in my car as I write this.

I have been having this same issue basically. I will be ordering these and trying it along with the FPR as you suggested. It will be awesome if the car ran great again.

Well, today was the first day about 75 degrees here in South Kentucky and my problem is back. It was not nearly as bad, bt died immediately and upon restart, I had to peddle it for about 30 seconds till it smoothed out. Engine temp never passed 35%, and runs great but irritating start prob still not resolved.

Good to know, I haven't had a problem with my Odyssey yet; it's a 2008 so I don't know if any measures where taken to fix it by then. Thanks for the info, you've helped me in the past.

Thank you for this video!! Yes there are still people dealing with this intermittent and annoying issue. My 98 Accord is my daily driver with 300, 000 miles. Unfortunately I won't know until we have hot weather again if it worked! I've been dealing with this for YEARS. I noticed the air temperature sensor was coated in gunk when cleaning out the EGR passages & throttle body. Did you use aftermarket parts or should I go with OEM?

This exact issue happened to our 2002 Accord 3.0 at around 189k miles. The transmission went on the frits shortly after so we ended up trading in in on a newer Accord. But now I know the fix if this happens to my Acura 😁👍

Acura cl has similar issue, but it starts cutting back after I drive it over 60 for a bit. Then when I drive it in slower traffic it wants to sputter. I step on the gas it will go but just pressing as needed it goes back to sputtering. Driving around town, its good all day no skipping. I have cleaned the intake, replaced plugs, wires, tps. Is your solution a fix for this? Thanks for the videon

I have a TL 2001 with 190K miles. It has this problem every once in a while. I tried changing the three sensors, when I noticed some oil residue on the air temp sensor into the manifold. The problem seemed to disappear for a couple of days but I noticed yesterday it came back. I shifted the car to neutral momentarily and reved up the engine a little and put it back in gear and no problem for the rest of the way. This is a strange problem with no clear diagnosis.

I have this same problem with my 2000 v6 but I dont get a check engine light. Is it because when it happens I catch it fast and bring the idle up til it smooths out maybe?
