Gee I wonder why Wal-Mart lobbies so hard against those kinds of things.

Thats just wrong on multiple levels

If the walmart raieses prices more people will buy from small business as it is cheaper for them.. also small business can also raise prices at a lesser margin than the big box

Also wages are constant so if both of them have to make a 20% increace in costs it affects both of them the same also most mom and pop shops dont have employees then their competition pays more than them so its a win for small stores

Why are they spending so much money to defeat minimum wage laws and unions? Arkansas has some of the worst labor laws and some of the lowest salaries in the country even as Walmart’s headquarters is in Bentonville.

Idk if big businesses really loved minimum wage increases, why do they always lobby against them. also most minimum wage laws provide exceptions for businesses below 100 workers….

Bigger companies can leverage economy of scale, but if you want to protect smaller business the solution is not to regress to seeking cheaper labour it is to tax large companies more than small business (this is often achieved via lower tax rates for small business). Obviously the same challenge exists for smaller business regardless of minimum wage legislation or not. It's completely disengenous to pretend otherwise and to ignore that many countries already provide higher annual incomes for those on mimum wage. Taxing low income workers less is also effective at lifting people out of poverty.

It sounds like the small business was barely profitable relying on working class slave labor and should have been replaced.

There should be laws creating a profit sharing scheme for employees of all sizes of businesses.

'Not my money' is the cry of the working class in America.

Get rid of the franchise model too.

But, wouldn't the small companies also just raise their prices?
