You are right it's a self humbling. The Hypostatic union basically says Jesus' two natures were separate but united! It really makes no sense. Kenoticism makes more sense since he emptied himself of his divine attributes, but still kept his identity as the Logos, so he was always deity. The miracles he did were by the Father working in him by the Holy Spirit, not his own divine attributes. Now in his exalted state, he has all attributes back again.
