Baby Tube-Nosed bat: this is Wiggles

Показать описание
Wiggles is an Eastern Tube-Nosed bat who was rescued from a barbed wire entanglement
The carer thought she was young but didn’t know how to age her because these bat come into care infrequently and there are no reliable age charts. Due to age, dentition, lack of yellow pigment spots, 33gm/61mm she was aged as young - possibly about the same developmental age as a 10 week old Grey-Headed Flying-Fox.
The carer has been feeding her 5 times a day with fruit feeds at night.
Wiggles had a huge deficit in her right wing membrane trailing edge but this is resolving and she’s starting to try and fly now. Her unique spots have started to develop. She is starting to be weaned and will be returned to the rescuer who has a 6mtr flight aviary so we can try release if she flies well.
She’s so chilled and happy; but more often tube nose are crazy and stressed.
Thanks Mandi for the video footage and for caring for little Wiggles.
Mandi is building a super duper aviary for all the rehab batties so senior citizen of her aviary, Walter, doesn't have to share his aviary with rehab bats who annoy him and go territorial.
Tolga Bat Hospital is taking donations for the aviary fundraiser.
Mention Megabattie or Meg/Aviary in the PayPal message box and the money will find its way to the aviary building fund.
If no message box appears, please email Jenny to tell her that the money is for me.
IMPORTANT: If you pay through the PayPal Giving Fund which is the preferred method of donating, can you please email Jenny with the amount donated and the name under which you have donated, OR just forward along the PP receipt.
The Giving Fund doesn’t charge any fees (so the bats get more money) but PP doesn’t itemise out the amount, they just send a total every month, and we don’t know if the money is for Tolga or for Megabattie.
