Can someone explain the first non trivial example to me please? I fail to see how he got zero

EDIT: nvm I remember what i was doing wrong, ill leave this up for anyone who struggles with this in the future. I forgot what the dot product was. what I was doing was making a new 2x2 matrix in my head, each entry corresponding with the row by column multiplication. so it would be the exact same result. Dot product also ADDS the result of each row by column. So it would be 1 + (-1), which is 0. Sorry folks im just dumb and dont really retain the knowledge from previous videos i guess
