Jesus Was Wrong About The End! Apologist Ignoring Contemporary Evidence | John J. Collins PhD

In recent times on YouTube many Christian apologist are trying to take a conditional approach to the end times with the New Testament predictions of both Paul and Jesus. Are they ignoring contemporary second temple Judaism and its implications for the Jesus movements eschatological & apocalyptic expectations. Did Jesus in fact fail along with Paul?

These apologist will argue (Rightly) that older ideas in the Bible God had a conditional contract of blessings and curses with Israel no matter how realistic this actually plays out in history. Are they correct in supposing this conditionality should just blindly pass by the deterministic second temple end time fever? Professor John J. Collins not only says that they are stretching this claim, but also takes NT Wright to task in his article of Mark 13 in the Context of Jewish Eschatological Expectations article

Was Jesus a false prophet? What are you talking about? What a crazy question! I must be getting far, far afield of “apologetics, ” because the arguments that are going on between apologists and atheists have been getting more and more ridiculous. I think I’m beyond the pale of evangelical Christianity now. It’s just too goofy. The whole Bible is just a bunch of conversations about the sacred, “sacred” defined in different ways, conducted over centuries, under different circumstances, with different people in different places. We need to appreciate it for what it is. It’s not how many angels are dancing on the heads of which pins. to look at it that way is to cheapen it.

He was a True False Prophet. You can also call the divine deceivers. People with divine powers like any other true prophet, but they use that power to deceive others to believe in things contrary to the word of God.
