Will Asteroid Bennu Hit Earth? NASA Explains

preview_player
Показать описание
Bennu, a top-shaped rubble pile that orbits the sun in relative solitude, has been doing so for hundreds of millions of years. The asteroid, which is approximately a third of a mile across at its equator, is not a direct threat to Earth. However, there is a slight risk that Bennu will hit Earth hundreds of years from now.

Back when the Earth had been bombarded by Asteroids, the Solar System was a lot more chaotic than it is today. All of the planets hadn't quite settled into there permanent orbits. Now we have Big Brother Jupiter to thank for deflecting most of what really would be dangerous to Earth. Yet all it can take to send a large rock to us is a gentle bump against another one.

I will suggest some more topics--
1. Nearby star systems
2. Ultima Thuke or Arrakoth
3. New Horizon space craft
4. Types of spacecrafts ex. Flyby, .etc

Make these... Further I will suggest more

I'm not too worried, since it will be hundreds of years from now.

the Odds of dying in a plane crash are 1 in 5, 500, 000 , the odds of winning the lotto are 1 in 292, 000, 000 ... the odds of getting struck by lightning is 1 in 15300 ... so the fact the odds of this thing hitting us is 1 in 1700 ..

We have to prepare weapons for destroying asteroids ☄️ fastly

Neil DeGrasse Tyson has pointed out that we probably already have the technology to deflect asteroids like this if we needed to. He also points out that as space exploration becomes more financially feasible and common, we will likely see a rise in the prevalence of asteroid mining as an industry. In such a world, it would be a simple matter for astronomers to simply ask the asteroid miners to move any problematic space rocks out of Earth's path, since they'd be the ones spending the most time out there. Not only that, but they'd be able to make a pretty penny off of it in the process, considering how rich these rocks are in valuable minerals!

Looks like if it hits it would be a really weak collision for something that size. At least it's not going the opposite direction directly at us.

I'm scared right now, even though I know it could hit us in 100 years D:

There won't be anybody alive for 60 years that might be remotely affected by this. That thought is crazy!

If neutrinos directly passes through matter without interacting...will it also pass through black hole or become a part of it?

Fun fact: An asteroid that would have the power to extinct humans has to be 1000-2000 meters in diameter.

(Well, not that much, but an asteroid that size would cause TERRIBLE damage)

yeah, some people think I orbit the sun in relative isolation.. Just because I like space rock.. eh, what do they know... Rocket man.. oooo ooo eee yauwl! I get such a kick outta your vids brother.. sometimes it is like you read my mind and then put it on video.. Well actually it's much better then that.. thanks.. Carry on!
