Here is a full run down of how and what I feel about the #GalaxyS22 #battery performance! It’s not as straight forward. While battery capacity is absolute; battery usage is subjective and depends on several factors from how you use your phone to where you use your phone. A smartphone's form factor is a huge factor that helps determine how big a battery can you put in and how long will it lsat.

In this video, I detail out usage statistics, battery drain and the reasoning behind the S22’s battery performance.

What's your preferred screen on time these days? Mine is anything between 7 - 8 Hours!

They took away my SD card and my headphone jack; i know they have room for a bigger batter

when toy pay 1000€, you expect to use it freely, not rationed. they have the tech to add more mAh.

I'd love the S22 for it's form factor, most flagship phones are too big for me. But I also want a phone that lasts a day, even after 2 years of usage. 1mm thicker with more battery - that would be perfect! (you could even make the camera module protrude less this way ;-)

This phone with its size is just perfect for me. The recharge points are easily accessible these days and I don't mind charging it as needed. Monday-Friday mostly working so one charge would work and Saturday-Sunday multi charge a day, which is fine for me.

I initially found my S22 and Watch 4 had horrible battery life but after a couple of weeks with the adaptive battery function (and only charging to 85% with the setting turned on to lengthen the battery life), it is lasting me over a day. I have also turned off the adaptive refresh rate as it is not a big deal for me and has helped a lot. Granted, if I am on it for hours on end then it'll only last half a day, but if I am using it on my daily at work/gym/commute/taking photos it has more than enough - this is with my 5G data, location tracking, and bluetooth turned on 24/7. Also, the battery comes to a full charge so quick that even if I needed a boost, I just plug it in and 30 mins later I'm good to go. Same with the Watch 4, only lasted me a day and now it is stretching out to 2.5 days.

The biggest issue with Samsung phones is the battery drain, it consumes around 15% on the night and that's not acceptable

I totally disagree with you on the subject of the S22's battery size.

The Pixel 5, Asus 8 and Xiaomi 12x have almost the same size as it but 4000 to 4500 mAh of battery.

We should stop trying to find an excuse for Samsung on this one.

🙏🏽

I loved my iPhone 12 pro battery and size and was happy to see Samsung finally competed with it the s22 is small but if you top up in the car before work during work or when you wake up it is a pretty amazing phone. I used to go for the plus but it got heavy and hard to use I love the compact feel of the s22. Being real if you need more battery just buy a battery case and use it when you need to and not when you don't. also the less sot time means I do more things less in my phone which has been amazing

I am happy with battery life because fear of ending up dead has made me quit urge to watch stories when i am free,
Skip unnecessary long calls
Keep on scrolling apps when I don't even need it

I was literally doing the analogy of the race car and fuel tanks this afternoon in my mind while thinking of the battery and looking outside :) funny to hear you say the same here a few hours later, especially because I don't think I've seen anyone looking at it from that perspective before and I have seen a lot of reviews of this phone.
Really enjoyed your analysis and video!

This video provides really good and unbiased info, thank you ! I allways prefer to know if the battery test was using wifi or cellular data. For me, the battery test outside, with cellular data enabled in preferable, since that's when you need your battery ... outside :)

I would go as far as saying that this phone can help you reduce the consumption of your screen time - make you more productive during the day and more focused rather than watching YT or browsing social media. This is looking like the perfect rehab commitment for those looking to reduce the screentime consumption, moreover, power-packed device in the form factor of ipods, you wouldn't even feel it dangling in your pocket if you go for a walk or a run. You may even switch to listening educational audio books over watching entertainment videos. Of course we need will power too but economising battery life can help. Thanks for your review!

I have the European version of the S22 ultra, the batterylife is really bad, 4 hours and sometimes 5 of screen on time for such a phone with very normal use? For me this is unacceptable and a shame on Samsung. Coming from an Oppo phone with more than 7 hours at the half of the price, with a smaller battery and heavy usage. There is no excuse for this!

I think everyone should stop defending companies for their poor choices, every time there’s a problem in a phone it’s always the “ oh you using it wrong” or smth.. especially when you see what apple or other companies can achieve with smaller or similar battery sizes

I have the phone for a bit over 2 weeks now and im really happy with it.
For me the size is really nice, camera and performance are just great and the battery isnt that bad. I have extra dim turned on all the time (which for me is just perfect cuz it saves battery and i find the screen a bit too bright usually) and some more battery settings like adaptive power saving and so on...
If you dont use it very much like me (a bit more than 2 hours a day) then when only charging it to 85 percent, going to 20 lasts about 2 days for me.
In conclusion, if youre looking for an awesome phone and you dont use it too much totally recommendable.
Edit: I wrote the comment before watching the video, and i just wanted to add, that i agree with basically everything he says.

I got it free. Verizon s22 from family member who wanted iphone and opened new line. So he gave me this one. I was just excited due to not having newer model. All of mine stopped support end of 2022. Perfect timing. But I still enjoy my 4xl and 7t. So battery between 5 and 6 hours sot for me heavy use is no big deal. If I was to go to work, there Is no way I'd be goofing off over 5 hours. People aren't working is the problem. Whoever chose a bottom base model that had the idea they would stay out partying all day should buy a unihertz tank.

A great no BS battery test that takes into account everyday usage.

One thing I noticed the SoT in Samsung settings is surprisingly often wrong.
I use Accubattery which is 99% more accurate.
I don't know why, Samsung already has lots of backlash due to their poor battery life phones and they even show lower SoT figures, which is very odd. Example: today I'm doing 9h11 of total screen right now and it's at 35% (keep in mind I charged it only up to 85% and I keep processing power to high because I was getting way too many lags) and 3h of SoT.
Samsung settings often display 20-30 minutes less of SoT mostly if use it on and off like during working days.

"This phone is not meant for long battery life"
Check the iphone 13 mini with the 2400mah battery, it gets allways 5-6h of screen on time, with 30% smaller battery.
The s22 gets at it's best 5h.
