Restoration of a $7000 Rolex Datejust - Rare Vintage Rolex Logo-Dial - Rusty Caliber 3135

This time I´m restoring a vintage Rolex Datejust from 1991.
It´s powered by the famous Rolex 3135 automatic-movement and it has one of those rare Rolex-Logo-Dials. Watches with those dials are hard to find and prices reach easily 7000$ or more.

Unfortunately water had entered the watch in the past.
The movement is rusty and not working, the glass is broken, the crown snapped off, the hands and the dial are dirty and the case and bracelet are over and over with scratches.

I need to clean everything up, polish and re-brush the case-parts. Some parts are beyond repair so I need to replace the glass, crown, crown-tube and some other movement-parts.

After everything is cleaned and polished, I can re-assemble the movement with some fresh oil. After that, this watch is in a fantastic beat (+0 seconds per day) again.

I hope you liked this restoration, if so, like, comment and subscribe ;)

I love silent YouTubers. Their action alone is enough to show their professionalism.

What amazes me the most is how anyone can keep track of so many tiny parts and how to reassemble them all.

Fascinating! I miss working with a watches. Never got to professional level(like my dad), but learned enough to “hobbying” around with old watches, pocket watches and some clocks.
Watching you working flawlessly, one might get a wrong idea, that its not super hard, just take a bunch of pictures, to remember where what goes- its far from the truth, even the simple looking tasks, takes enormous amount of practice, patience and (occasionally) crawling on all four, looking for a tiny part.
So those who tasted even a simple horological experience, can truly appreciate how professional you are.
Thank you for a great video.

I love watching this type of videos, they are relaxing. This is why I love mechanical watches and watches in general. The mechanical movement and parts are like a living being that can tell the time.

Great idea to use the flux capacitor to repair the crystal. Haven't seen anyone do it before

I used to study watchmaking and that allows me to respect the amount of work you put in and attention to detail you have. I haven't seen any youtubers/watchmakers going to the extent you do. Keep up the good work.

You really know your stuff. You and the "Nekkid Watchmaker" are my favorites, as you do so much more than "just" cleaning movements.

Amazing work! It boggles my mind how someone can take such poor care of a watch to begin with! I'm glad there are watchmakers like you who can breathe new life into these classics.
