You haven’t mentioned it in this video, but I’ve finally picked up Strange the Dreamer after you recommended it recently and I’m so very grateful, because the way Laino Taylor writes and gives emotions to her characters is simply incredible, heartwarming and lyrical. Thank you!

I read Between Two Fires after you mentioned it in a video a few years ago and it is one of my favorite books of all time!! I'm currently rereading it as part of a book club, and they love it as well! Thank you for bringing it to my attention--i never would have picked it up otherwise!!

I absolutely loved Tress of the Emerald Sea, it had me hooked from the start and provided just what I anted in plot, pacing and character development. My other favourite recent discover is "What you are looking for is in the Library" by Michiko Aoyama - I know i don't need to persuade a group of avid readers to pick up something where a library is at the heart of the story, but for anyone not sure this book is beautiful and I truly mean that. It is a number of short stories with really lovely details about a different persons life, all separate but all linked by a local library and it is incredibly gentle but impactful. I recommend trying the audio book of this and letting it soothe your soul as it did for me.

I read spinning silver two years ago and loved it! I am so glad to see others reading it as well. If you haven’t you should totally read Uprooted by her as well. It’s just as good! I also really loved tress of the emerald sea. I read it early last year and it was great! I’m so glad you liked it.

Our taste is shockingly similar (I share three of the same favourites!), which is why it delighted me so much to discover two books I hadn't heard of in this video!! Immediate wishlist/hold, and thank you for the great recommendations! Edit: I actually just purchased Between Two Fires- it sounded so good, I couldn't wait the several months Libby wanted me to 😅

I've only read 2 books this year and have been very lucky that they were both 5 star reads! The first was Blood Over Bright Haven by ML Wang, and the other was The Mountains Sing by Nguyen Phan Que Mai, a devastating historical fiction set in 20th century Viet Nam and tells the story of a family as they experience WWII, land reform, and the American invasion (the Vietnam War). Such a wonderful book, I read it in a day! (Was this wise? No, I ignored a rather pressing deadline in favour of reading this book, but it doesn't matter because it was that good.) I think anyone who loved Pachinko or Beasts of a Little Land would love this book.

I recently read the first book of naomi novik’s temeraire series and it’s the most adorable book ever. Temeraire has my whole heart. And when something happened to one of the other dragons I literally, *literally* SOBBED and was inconsolable.

The Heroes is also one of my favorite books! And especially my favorite Joe Abercrombie book.

Some of my favorite books so far this year that I recommend are: Five Survive by Holly Jackson, The Games Gods Play by Abigail Owen, The Crime Brûlée Bake Off by Rebecca Connolly, The Midnight Library by Matt Haig, True Colors by Kristine Hannah, and The Luminaries by Susan Dennard. These are all really great books and if you haven’t read them I highly recommend them.

I loved The Inheritance Trilogy. It's not usually talked about.
