Is the Pitbull a dangerous dog? Why or why not?

After bullbaiting, breeders bred the dog for Dog fights. The dog bred for companionship was the English bulldog, not the pitbull.

People defending Pits always try to downplay genetics but aggression is absolutely genetic. It's how domestic dogs came into being. The research results of Dmitri K. Belyaev clearly shows both docile and aggressive genetic results.

This is incomplete. You talk about "bull bating" but you forgot to tell the most importan part, that after "bull bating" was banned, gamblers turned to Dog V Dog fights and that went on and still goes on. Why did you skip this? Did you omit that part on purpose?

And suddenly i remember that lady on the news that injured one of her pitbulls and killed the other one cuz both of them desfigured her daughter's face.

Wait, these were bred to kill and you expect that kill instinct to just go away? They are so unpredictable. It takes just 1 time for that instinct to kick in. All the owners say they never saw it coming.

I have been involved in dog rescue for 20 years. I’ve saved quite a few pitbulls. And I own the outwardly most docile one, I’ve ever met. What I will say, from a hospital bed, after being severely attacked by my “docile” boy of 6 years, is they seem to have something in their brain that snaps. I don’t know what and have not done a lot of research, but I’ve seen it in many of the dogs I’ve saved. And once they snap, they don’t stop. They seem to get more crazed with the yelling or crying from another dog. I love all dogs and love my big boy, but he is not safe and I have to make the saddest decision of my life when I get home.

Actually, the reason they are kind to people is because they have been tweaked IN THE BREEDING HISTORY for bull fights, and lately for dog fights, so that humans can attend to their injuries without "Ubu" having a bite.

They might score better than other dogs in the temperament test but for the few that do attack unprovoked, it's very unforgiving and even fatal.

I’ve recently come across pit bull service dogs for patients with heart problems. They are quite fantastic when treated well, properly trained and bred.

Pretty sure that people can agree that aggression can be genetic in humans. How come people can’t admit this when it comes to pit bulls?

What to you failed to mention is the sample size. Gsd was tested with 3000+ dogs to achieve 85 whereas this pit bull is 900

Even now some pitbulls still have a dark history with dog fights when I have watched a few documentaries about it

Oh that test, I'm sure there's an accurate representation of the pitts that have been through a shelter several times and have a history of 'nipping'
It's just like the stat that an insurance company released saying golden retrievers were responsible for the most bites. They neglected to say that pitts were excluded from the data because the underwriters refused to insure them at all as the stats showed them to be far too dangerous to insure. Money does not lie. There's no BS with money. It makes the right choice.

In Spain the Alano was used and they were near 100 lbs. The two breeds share a common ancestor. Also bullbaiting was done throughout Europe, actually.

As a pitbull owner, I didn’t know some of this history. I knew they were used for baiting bulls but not the details of why/how. Thank you for sharing the information!

Pitbull was bread through a Tasmanian devil which is a member of the honey badger known for its stubbornness and never giving up.

Not one word of the people that trained them for that. The people not the dog.

doing a research paper on pitbull type dogs and their history is even darker and rich than this video gave them credit for. Also not all pitbulls are bred for docile natures, be careful and be educated. The worse thing for a pitbull type dog, like most dogs, is an ill informed and/or uneducated owner. This video is only partly correct on most of it's "facts".
