The 6 point rule for new drivers in the United Kingdom. Some people know it as the New Drivers Act.
So the 6 point rule means that as a new driving licence holder in the UK you are not allowed to accumulate 6 points or more within two years of passing your driving test. If you do accumulate 6 points or more within 2 years of passing your UK driving test, then unfortunately your driving licence will be revoked.
At this point you will have to start all over again by applying for a new driving licence(provisional driving licence)and retaking the theory test and then retaking the UK driving test.
The number of penalty points that you will get on your driving licence will depend on the driving offence.
The two most common driving offences for new drivers are mobile phone use whist driving or breaking the speed limit.
Breaking the speed limit will carry 3 points if just over the speed limit, but more if a lot higher than the speed limit.
Mobile phone use whilst the engine is turned on carries 6 points. This can be sitting in traffic whilst watching a YouTube video or looking at your Facebook page(6 points). Or using the phone whilst driving around.
