The Wild Robot - In Theaters September 27

From DreamWorks Animation comes a new adaptation of a literary sensation, Peter Brown’s beloved, award-winning, #1 New York Times bestseller, The Wild Robot.

The epic adventure follows the journey of a robot—ROZZUM unit 7134, “Roz” for short — that is shipwrecked on an uninhabited island and must learn to adapt to the harsh surroundings, gradually building relationships with the animals on the island and becoming the adoptive parent of an orphaned gosling.

The Wild Robot stars Academy Award® winner Lupita Nyong’o (Us, The Black Panther franchise) as robot Roz; Emmy and Golden Globe nominee Pedro Pascal (The Last of Us, The Mandalorian) as fox Fink; Emmy winner Catherine O’Hara (Schitt’s Creek, Best in Show) as opossum Pinktail; Oscar® nominee Bill Nighy (Living, Love Actually) as goose Longneck; Kit Connor (Heartstopper, Rocketman) as gosling Brightbill and Oscar® nominee Stephanie Hsu (Everything Everywhere All at Once, this summer’s The Fall Guy) as Vontra, a robot that will intersect with Roz’s life on the island.

The film also features the voice talents of Emmy winning pop-culture icon Mark Hamill (Star Wars franchise, The Boy and the Heron), Matt Berry (What We Do in the Shadows, The SpongeBob Movie franchise) and Golden Globe winner and Emmy nominee Ving Rhames (Mission: Impossible films, Pulp Fiction).

A powerful story about the discovery of self, a thrilling examination of the bridge between technology and nature and a moving exploration of what it means to be alive and connected to all living things, The Wild Robot is written and directed by three-time Oscar® nominee Chris Sanders—the writer-director of DreamWorks Animation’s How to Train Your Dragon, The Croods, and Disney’s Lilo & Stitch—and is produced by Jeff Hermann (DreamWorks Animation’s The Boss Baby 2: Family Business; co-producer, Kung Fu Panda franchise).

Peter Brown’s The Wild Robot, an illustrated middle-grade novel first published in 2016, became a phenomenon, rocketing to #1 on the New York Times bestseller list. The book has since inspired a trilogy that now includes The Wild Robot Escapes and The Wild Robot Protects. Brown’s work on the Wild Robot series and his other bestselling books have earned him a Caldecott Honor, a Horn Book Award, two E.B. White Awards, two E.B. White Honors, a Children’s Choice Award for Illustrator of the Year, two Irma Black Honors, a Golden Kite Award and a New York Times Best Illustrated Book Award.

The fact that just watching the trailer made me cry really means something. Why can’t we make animated movies like this anymore? What happened to movie studios that now all they care about making are sequels/ live action remakes that aren’t that good? This is SOO refreshing to see

Honestly, considering the fact that most of the animated movies previously released and coming this year are sequels, I have a feeling that “Wild Robot” will be perhaps 2024’s best ORIGINAL animated film.

The fact that Chris Sanders wrote and directed this movie excites me the most. He has been in the animation industry for decades and it truly upsets me how a lot of people still don't know his name. From Lilo & Stitch to How To Train Your Dragon to The Croods and now this movie, Sanders is easily one of the greatest artists working in the animation industry. I really hope this could be a bigger hit for him. He's such a gem in animation industry, i adore him so much

Just saw the movie minutes ago, this is one of the best movies I've seen in a long time. It is new, original, well written, no over the top propaganda, and heart filled.
In comparison, it makes WallE feel like an empty box.

Omg and the use of Billie Eilish’s Birds of a Feather beautifully complements the film. From the trailer alone, I took away lessons of parenthood, inclusivity, chosen family, adoption, perseverance, identity, family, connection, and of course love. I’m going to be a puddle of tears watching this. Can’t wait.

If you're thinking of seeing this do it. Might now be my favorite animated movie ever.
It's so beautiful and could probably make even the coldest hearts feel again.

0:14 To be the greatest movie that DreamWorks has ever done is a pretty big statement. You are comparing it to Shrek 2, all the How to Train Your Dragon movies, the first two Kung Fu Panda, Puss in Boots the Last Wish, and the Prince of Egypt. They must be really sure to say that.

Edit: ok, I still haven't seen the movie, and I really should, judging by the comments.

Second edit: At the very least it is top 10 DreamWorks movies, and I could see it in the top 5. I think I still prefer Httyd, both King Fu Panda movies, and the Prince of Egypt, but it's still an amazing movie. Go watch it right now if you haven't.

I just watched half of this. It's the best animated movie I've ever seen. I thought it'd be just a kids movie. It's so much more. The writing, the pacing, the graphics, it's unbelievably stunning.

I thoroughly recommend this film to anyone. I'm 16 and still have a soft spot for animation films, watched this and loved it. Animations have had such a bad rep recently, but this was outstanding. It had everything! 10/10 film. Well done Dreamworks - carrying the animation industry.
