Join Shizuka Anderson as she explores the winter wonderland of Otaru City, one of Hokkaido’s most historic and scenic port cities, located just west of Sapporo. She eats her way through seven of the city’s most standout cafes, food stalls, and eateries to find the most representative dishes of Otaru, Hokkaido.

Being Japan’s #1 producer of milk, Hokkaido is indisputably the best place to enjoy treats made with dairy products, from soft serve to cheesecakes. LeTAO in Otaru is a must-visit for sweet-lovers, serving some of the finest confections using the prefecture’s local dairy. And that’s not all… Shizuka also tries one of the prefecture’s famous dishes, Jingisukan or “Genghis Khan,” a grilled mutton or lamb dish; this time, uniquely packaged in a portable nikuman (steamed meat bun).

FEATURED FOODS
-Awayuki pudding (290 yen)
-Amazake (fermented rice drink; literally “sweet sake”) (290 yen)

Cudos to you and your crew for filming in that blizzard! It gave a great view of Japan we don't get to see very often.

Beautiful town. Thanks for exploring it and showing it to us. Hope my wife and I can come back to Japan later in 2022! (I've been to Japan seven wonderful times over several decades: two military, four work, one vacation). Will try to travel north this time.

As always a great shizuka vlog
Love the light flurries
What no ice-cream ? Shizuka being Canadian should have no problem having some ! Unless it is -20 at time of filming ? 😉
