Adler also said he hoped there would be a Great Books of Eastern Civilization, and by association, Ideas as well. Adler isn't necessarily saying these ideas aren't in the East as well. He admitted that he could not be as familiar with the Eastern canon as the Western canon. Let's hope there is one day a similar Canon for East, West, North, South where all similar Great Ideas can be examined.

Adler was a Thomist Catholic convert. But there is a problem with Koran conversion by persuasion or force--this Adler does not accept. Also, Adler doubts if Asians can do the Socratic dialog in Practical Wisdom (politics), because he went to Japan and tried to do a Socratic dialog, but failed and went home after a few weeks. Asians are good at math and science, ironically, but not Practical Wisdom which is too abstract. By following Koran, Arabs have attained Practical Wisdom, except for conversion by force, but could they have it without Koran? We don't know.
