This tutorial guides you through the use of Libraries and Events within iMovie. You'll see different examples of how to create multiple libraries and move your video footage to external hard drives if you run out of space and a basic understanding of how the file structure works using Apple iMovie.
Video files take up a lot of space and can cause you to run out of room on your Mac, so by creating and organizing your iMovie Libraries, you can copy to an external hard drive to free up space. But most importantly, you know where your files actually live!

Thanks for this really helpful video Joel 👍
It looks like iMovie has improved file management a lot from the early days, when I last tried it out.
Anyway I now have a few videos to create from a number of recent hikes.
From what you say I am probably best off creating a Library for the whole trail, then creating an Event for each section hike?
I have already seen your helpful video on Managing Clips. But the missing bit of the jigsaw now is to do with additional content - photos, graphics, music, voice etc. Can these be copied off the same external SSD into the Library file? Hope that question makes sense... Many thanks
